Godparents Selection Process
We are excited to guide you through selecting godparents for your child’s Baptism, an essential step in their spiritual journey. Here are the requirements and guidelines to ensure a smooth and meaningful experience:
Sacraments of Initiation
Godparents must have received Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. This ensures they are fully initiated into the Catholic Faith.
Documentation
Parents must bring valid photo IDs for themselves and their chosen godparents on the registration day. If the godparents are not parish members, please provide the name and address of their home church.
Sacramental Information
Godparents should provide the dates and names of the churches where they received their sacraments. It is helpful if parents also provide this information.
Baptismal Preparation Workshop
Both parents and godparents are required to attend a mandatory Baptismal Preparation Workshop. This workshop is offered every last Saturday of the month at the Evangelization Center Benedict XVI from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
Catholic Faithful
Only practicing Catholics can serve as godparents. Non-Catholic individuals can act as witnesses, but must attend the Baptism Preparation Workshop.
Donations
While not mandatory, parents and godparents are encouraged to offer a donation to the church on the day of the Baptism, using special envelopes provided for this purpose.
Baptism Schedule
Baptisms are celebrated on specific Saturdays of each month, alternating between English and Spanish ceremonies. Please refer to the schedule for details.
Physical Presence
Both parents and godparents must be present on the day of the Baptism.
